Melissa at her Year 10 Graduation

It does feel a bit funny to be posting Melissa’s Year 10 formal images in late February, the night was at the beginning of December last year and I was far to busy to put them on the blog so thought today was as good a day as any. I was pleasantly surprised to see Melissa after such a long time and was blown away as to how she had grown into such a beautiful young lady. Not to mention last time I saw her she was a brunette, by the smile on her face I could see that maybe it is true that blondes do have more fun! Several years ago I photographed Melissa’s oldest sister Danielle for her Year 12 formal and then the middle daughter in the family Ashleigh for her Year 10 formal shortly after that.

Enjoy!

Richard Plus Jennifer Plus Lots of Kids

Jennifer and I go way back, our parents are great friends and we spent many parties and BBQ’s together when we were younger. We worked out that it had probably been over five years since we had seen each other. It was such a surprise to get a phone call from her to book in a shoot for her, her two children and her new partner Richard and his three children to give as Christmas gifts to both sides of the family. Just for good measure we threw in Richard’s two nieces and his nephew.

Jennifer said that when they had started doing some research on which photographer to choose, they had heard about a photographer with a business called KMU Photography by two different, unrelated sources and the whole time didn’t realise it was me. Jennifer said as soon as she opened my website she knew it was me and called me straight away.

It took me just under an hour to get to Dungog where Richard led us to a family property him in his big ute and me following behind in my trusty CRV. What I think is so cool is that I would have never been able to scout this location on my own as it was a fair way off the beaten track with a few fences to go through and Jennifer in the sedan had to stop and I was allowed to go 4WD’ing down the big hill to the creek bed in my car. All 8 kids hopped on the back of Richard’s ute to drive down too.

Imagine how excited I was when I looked to the left of me and saw the way the water was reflecting off the creek I just knew that was the spot that made it all worth while. By the end of the shoot it was sweltering and if we had left it any later the light would have been too harsh. These first lot of images we taken with my big gun 70-200 lense with me sitting on the other side of the creek. I didn’t think it could have gotten better but then the kids told me there was a better spot where they had gone swimming recently. By the time I caught up to them they were already sitting on the log and I could have just died and gone to heaven.

Enjoy!

Danielle – Part IV – Guess Who Just Turned 21?

When I looked in the local paper last week I saw that Danielle had just turned 21 so I thought I would give her a shout out with the fourth and final part of her shoot to help her celebrate.

The afternoon of this shoot it was extremely, extremely hot and humid and I was desperate to find some cooler places to shoot so Danielle didn’t pass out and her make up did not melt off her face. I was driving to meet her at her fantastic shoe store when I drove past and looked in the window of Amy’s funky clothing store MILK (John Street, Singleton) and thought I could maybe utilize her front window and her white leather lounge. Any was very cool about it and let us take over the shop for half an hour, thanks again Amy.

Enjoy! Keep an eye out as Danielle’s youngest sister will be appearing on the blog very soon. Also Danielle will be featuring in an exciting project I have coming up in the near future which I am very, very excited about.

Take care, talk soon.
