Jennifer and I go way back, our parents are great friends and we spent many parties and BBQ’s together when we were younger. We worked out that it had probably been over five years since we had seen each other. It was such a surprise to get a phone call from her to book in a shoot for her, her two children and her new partner Richard and his three children to give as Christmas gifts to both sides of the family. Just for good measure we threw in Richard’s two nieces and his nephew.
Jennifer said that when they had started doing some research on which photographer to choose, they had heard about a photographer with a business called KMU Photography by two different, unrelated sources and the whole time didn’t realise it was me. Jennifer said as soon as she opened my website she knew it was me and called me straight away.
It took me just under an hour to get to Dungog where Richard led us to a family property him in his big ute and me following behind in my trusty CRV. What I think is so cool is that I would have never been able to scout this location on my own as it was a fair way off the beaten track with a few fences to go through and Jennifer in the sedan had to stop and I was allowed to go 4WD’ing down the big hill to the creek bed in my car. All 8 kids hopped on the back of Richard’s ute to drive down too.
Imagine how excited I was when I looked to the left of me and saw the way the water was reflecting off the creek I just knew that was the spot that made it all worth while. By the end of the shoot it was sweltering and if we had left it any later the light would have been too harsh. These first lot of images we taken with my big gun 70-200 lense with me sitting on the other side of the creek. I didn’t think it could have gotten better but then the kids told me there was a better spot where they had gone swimming recently. By the time I caught up to them they were already sitting on the log and I could have just died and gone to heaven.
Enjoy!
