How Do I Choose? When It Is Soo Hard!

I am sure I have shared here before that I am a perfectionist when it comes to my photography, my housework is another story though! I am feeling stressed out and tortured that I do not blog more often as I have so much to share. I thought I might try to illustrate the difficulty that I sometimes have when preparing a blog post, or editing a whole shoot for that matter.

I torment myself when I sit in front of the computer when I have three images, sometimes more like the ones below and for the life of me I can not choose which one to show. Sometimes they are so similar that I can not justify posting both as I try to show a variety of images from a collection. Yet each one is special for its own reason, is it the way she is holding her chubby hands, or the way she is scrunching up her nose when she is laughing. I literally just sit and stare at the screen not being able to bear closing one down. The thought goes through my mind something like this “If they don’t see the other two they won’t know that I only picked this one – but I will know”! The argument goes on in my head for ages and often it all gets too hard and I just get up and do something totally random rather than make a decision.

I would love to know your thoughts on what would make you pick one of the images below over the other. I would love this to be a discussion, feel free to post in the comments and I will get involved too. Maybe some feedback will help me in the future to figure it out and make it a little easier! Would you rather see two images that are “similar” but “different” or would you rather see more variety? Thanks in advance to anyone who decides to join in.

Take care, talk soon.

I always have this dilema and still dont know the answer to the question…..
I like the first one she feel more involved in the moment to me just leaning forward a little more with more hand involvement but they are all good. I like variety too… not much help am I. LOL

I totally get what your saying, and I too go through the same thought process when displaying photos on Facebook! I don’t want to put too many of the same type up, as people may get bored with too many to look at, however can’t decide the best one as they are both just slightly different and can tell a different story! As for these pictures, the first one she looks so cheeky, like she is giggling from deep down in her tummy and really not sure yet, and the other too it’s like she is feeling more comfortable and happy and opening up! I love all three, but the first is my favourite! She is the cutest thing I have seen in a long time. Some of my favourite shots of yours!

Okay, the first one is certainly “her”. It reminded me of one of her signature facial expressions!!!

I just love them all, but being her mum, I am thinking out of the three, I would definitely have the first one on top of my list!!!!

Love them all as they tell an almost whole story instead of just providing a glimpse!

INDEED HOW DOES ONE CHOOSE> Thay are different, and at first i too chose the first but if it was a child of mine I would like, once her baby look has gone, to have the third image. Framed perhaps with her first childhood drawings of herself, Don’t agonise They will all be loved. as we love you.

of course all 3 are just gorg! BUT if i was to pick it’d be #1. In the first picture you captured “the moment”, the emotion and the glimmer in her eye. the other two are beutiful shots, the 1st one has that extra something special. As with all artists you will painfully go through this every time… but that is what makes you good and gives you the ability to set up these scenes and pick your moments… its the trade off!!! As a client I’d rather see more variety than repetition BUT sometimes I guess that there will be some shoots where it’ll go the other way, as with your photo’s of Millie… the one’s where she is propped up on her hands…couldn’t get enough of it…
